About Studio Method

Studio Method is proven business strategies designed specifically for wedding photographers.

Far too many people get into wedding photography by simply purchasing a digital camera, setting up a template website, and copying someone’s prices. Even if that is not how you got into wedding photography, the reality is this; you are competing against those photographers today.

The aim of Studio Method is to bring structure to the business side of wedding photography. There are proven techniques that every wedding photographer can use to create a thriving business.

“90% of all wedding photographers go out of business in just 5 years….and the number one complaint among brides is with their wedding photographers. I have seen a lot of great photographers shut their doors, and the problem is rarely the photography….it’s lack of sales, over burdened workflows, and runaway costs that produce failure."

"There are lots of places to learn about shutter speeds and apertures, but not many places to learn about the business side of wedding photography. Studio Method is a collection of proven business strategies designed specifically for wedding photographers.”

Jay uses 5 key lessons in to teach the concepts in Studio Method.

Lesson One - Portfolio Design

There is much more to portfolio design than you might think. There is a difference in what a bride is looking for when considering hiring you, and what she wants to see in her own wedding album. For that reason, your portfolio must be designed a certain way, and your wedding albums another.

Portfolio design is so important that Jay goes page by page and teaches you exactly how you should be designing your portfolios and why.

Lesson Two - Pricing & Packages

In the Pricing and Packages lesson, Jay teaches a concept called the “Variable Pricing Model” (or V.P.M.). The idea behind the V.P.M. is to create a large product offering to appeal to the most brides. It’s all about casting a large net.

In this lesson, Jay gives you the same pricing structure that he used to build his studio. You will see exactly how the V.P.M. encourages brides to purchase your most profitable packages.

Lesson Three - Workflow

An out of control workflow manifests into slow turnaround times for your clients and a headache for you. You will see in this lesson, that workflow is more than “post-production”. The Studio Method workflow will not only save you time, it can increase your revenue through “Systematic Up Sells”.

Lesson Four - Marketing

In this lesson, Jay is going to introduce you to a concept called “Demand Discount Marketing.” Demand Discount Marketing is all about getting the best return on your marketing dollars. This is the single best technique for generating more wedding sales and bringing down your overall marketing costs.

Many photographers are missing the boat on this. Once you learn Demand Discount Marketing and see the results, you will never go back to traditional marketing methods. It’s all about stretching your dollar.

Lesson Five - Systematic Up Sells

The “Systematic Up Sells” lesson is about creating a buying environment for your brides. It is not necessary to be a pushy sales person to up-sell your brides on album upgrades, frames, reprints, parent albums or any fringe items.

When you are able to get these techniques implemented into your business, you will put your sales on auto pilot. This is what “Working Smarter not Working Harder” looks like.
